2 govt officials held with Rs 30,000 bribe



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested two officials – Account Officer and Accountant – of a municipality for demanding bribe from a journalist.

The anti-graft body arrested Account Officer Shiva Ghimire and Accountant Kuber KC of Mahalaxmi Municipality of Lalitpur district with Rs 30,000 in bribe.

The municipality officials had asked for the bribe for providing municipality’s advertisement to the newspaper run by the journalist, according to Pradeep Kumar Koirala, spokesperson of the CIAA.

The CIAA is carrying out investigation on the arrested, said spokesperson Koirala.
