KATHMANDU: The United States Nepal Policy Research Center (USNPRC) has urged Nepal government to be honest and serious for the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact.
Issuing a press note on Thursday, USNPRC asked the Nepal government, political leaders to expedite the MCC compact project by playing a constructive role in endorsing it through the parliament.
“The MCC compact project is the largest grant assistance of Rs 56 billion meant for Nepal. Nepal government and political leaders should be honest and serious in endorsing the MCC compact project through the parliament and expedite it at the earliest,” reads the press note issued today.
Nepal government has already signed the MCC compact project during the tenure of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister in 2017.
The MCC is a bilateral United States foreign aid agency that provides grants to all the poor countries across the globe that uphold democratic norms, freedom and human rights, it said.
