Salikram Pudasaini suicide case: Chitwan District Court concludes detention hearing

CHITWAN: The Chitwan District Court on Monday concluded detention hearing of TV presenter Rabi Lamichhane, journalist Yuvaraj Kandel and Ashmita Karki accused of abetting a suicide.

The case was heard by a bench of District Judge Hemanta Rawal. Although 26 lawyers had registered their names to take part in the hearing, only 21 lawyers participated.

Now, the court will determine whether the accused be sent to jail, released on bail or on general date.

The District Attorney Office, Chitwan on Sunday had filed a charge-sheet against the accused of abetting suicide by journalist Shalikram Pudasaini. The office has sought a fine of Rs 50,000 and a sentence of five years or both for the accused in line with the Criminal Code Act, 2017.
