KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket team can now breathe a sigh of relief after Singapore defeated Malaysia by eight wickets in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup Asia Final held in Singapore on Friday.

With the win, Singapore has now collected five points from three matches with a match left to play against Nepal. On the other hand, Malaysia is out of the race for T20 World Cup with defeat with the host.

Nepal has got two points from two matches winning one match. Nepal is yet to compete against host Singapore and Kuwait. Nepal will compete against Kuwait that has three points from three games on Saturday. Nepal will face Singapore in its final match on Sunday.

With two teams out of the competition, Nepal needs to win both the matches. If Nepal defeats Kuwait on Saturday, it will get a total of four points. Singapore has already five points from three matches. Thus, Nepal needs to beat Singapore in its home ground to earn its berth for the global qualifiers.

Nepal can reach global qualifier based on run rate even if it wins one match and another match is washed away by rain. If Nepal wins both the matches, it will secure the berth for global qualifiers securing the first position in the points tally.
