THIRUVANTHAPURAM: High alert has been sounded in the coastal areas of Kerala as 15 terrorists of Islamic State (IS) had set off from Sri Lanka for the Lakshadweep. An intelligence report has confirmed the movement of terrorists. Lakshadweep is an archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs, off the coast of Kerala, India.
The coastal police department has alerted fishing vessel owners and cautioned others against venturing into the sea. High alert in coastal areas of Kerala continues since May 23 after the intelligence input came from Sri Lanka.
India has been watching the whole situation since April 21 when a series of deadly attacks on churches rocked Sri Lanka, killing over 350 people and injuring 500. The Islamic State group owned responsibility for the attack.
