Tourism Minister suggests revival of Kathmandu’s nightlife

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has stressed the need to revive Kathmandu city’s nighttime activities during the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign in a bid to retain foreign tourists.

“Kathmandu goes to sleep at around 6 in the evening,” Minister Bhattarai said at a meeting with chiefs and officials of local governments in the Kathmandu district.

He urged all authorities to work towards making Kathmandu’s nightlife alive during the Visit Nepal Year.

Minister Bhattarai queried, “Why can’t we illuminate our temples?”

On the occasion, he also urged local governments to carry out a study regarding the possibility of operating bus service to connect major heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley.
