Govt to book medical college operators for fraud

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to take action against operators of medical colleges that refused to return overcharged fees to students on fraud charges.

Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel on Sunday met Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa and discussed on District Administration Offices taking action against them.

“Discussion was held on what can be done in case of medical colleges,” Minister Pokharel was quoted as saying.

The government on November 15 had given a 15-day deadline to medical colleges to return the overcharged fees. Protests have flared at different colleges with the deadline approaching.
