1,074 mountaineers acquire permit for autumn season

KATHMANDU: A total of one thousand seventy-four mountaineers belonging to 143 expedition groups from 59 countries have acquired permission to climb mountains during the autumn season, the Department of Tourism (DoT) has said.

The figure is likely to increase as the climbing season lasts until the first week of November, according to the DoT.

Last year a total of 1,398 climbers of 173 expedition teams from 63 countries had acquired the permission to scale Nepal’s mountains.

More than Rs 61 million has been collected as revenue from the mountaineers so far, the DoT said.
