Charge sheet filed against Rabi Lamichhane, two others



CHITWAN: The District Attorney Office Chitwan has filed a charge sheet against television presenter Rabi Lamichhane and two others for abetting a suicide.

According to District Attorney Yadunath Sharma, the case was filed at the Chitwan District Court after studying the files that were compiled revolving the case.

Lamichhane and two others – Yuvaraj Kandel and Ashmita Karki – have been accused of abetting suicide by journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

Journalist Pudasaini, who was found dead in a hotel room here on August 5, in a video, had accused them of abetting the suicide.

Police presented the trio at the District Attorney Office in Chitwan on Sunday. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Deepak Regmi, police presented evidence supporting the abetted suicide of Pudasaini, who was found hanging at a Chitwan-based hotel.

Police on Sunday morning had submitted the files with evidence to the Court. Lamichhane, Kandel, and Karki were arrested from Kathmandu on August 17.

According to registrar Rudramani Giri, a single bench of district judge Hemanta Rawal will conduct the hearing.

The District Attorney Office, in the charge-sheet, has sought a jail sentence of five years and a fine of Rs 50,000 each from the three accused.
