Guthi Bill withdrawal proposal being tabled in parliament today



KATHMANDU: Newar community in the capital has been protesting against the Guthi Bill tabled in the Parliament.

On June 18, the government had assured that it would withdraw the controversial Guthi Bill. Newar community and campaigners on Monday demonstrated to heap pressure on the  government to turn table in their favor.

A group of protesters started  from New Road, passed through Ratna Park, Bhadrakali, Sundhara  before it converged into Basantapur area.

The protesters demonstrated in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, too.

Ministry for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation submitted a Guthi Bill withdrawal proposal on Friday. The proposal is being submitted in upper house.
