China promises to create a better world of peace, security

KATHMANDU: China on Wednesday released a white paper vowing to fulfill the international obligations of a major country by promoting international military cooperation in the new era.

The white paper issued by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China today said that China will endeavor to strive for a better world of peace and security. It has also vowed to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

The white paper stated that China has played a constructive role in the political settlement of issues such as the Korean Peninsula, the Syrian issue, and the Iranian nuclear issue. It said China has consistently opposed unilateralism, hegemony, and double standards.

The white paper has further stated that the country has resolutely upheld the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and participated in international arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.

It said that China is developing constructive relationships with foreign militaries with an aim to build a new-model of security partnership featuring mutual trust, equality, and win-win cooperation.

Likewise, China, in the white paper, has expressed the commitment to building a community with a shared future, and to endeavor to deepen the military partnership.

It should be noted that China is strengthening cooperation and military exchanges with European countries, developing countries in Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean as well as the South Pacific.

China has, since 2012, held more than 100 joint exercises and training scenarios with more than 30 countries. (Agencies)
