President Bhandari off to China



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has left for a nine-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China on Wednesday at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, anfd others bade farewell to President Bhandari at the VVIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

President Bhandari is scheduled to participate in the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.

She is also scheduled to address the Second Belt and Road Forum, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.

A delegation-level bilateral talks would also be held between President Bhandari and Chinese President Xi, which will be followed by a signing ceremony.

Likewise, she will also hold meetings with senior Chinese leaders, and visit Xi’an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province, on her way to Beijing.

She is also scheduled to visit Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region of China, on her way back to Nepal.

President Bhandari will return home on May 2.
