One suicide bomber in Sri Lanka blasts was a woman



COLOMBO: One of the nine bombers in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday was a woman, Sri Lanka’s deputy defense minister said on Wednesday, according to media reports.

At least 359 people were killed in the blasts targeting churches and hotels.

Meanwhile, Lakshman Kiriella, the leader of the parliament, said on Wednesday that more than 60 had been arrested, while more than 100 were likely to be.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina Teplitz said Washington had no prior knowledge of the bombings, but now they believed there were ongoing terrorist plots. (Agencies)
