Nepal bags 20 gold medals



 

PATNA: Nepali players won 20 gold medals in the International Open Karate and Kick Boxing championship in Patna, India. With 20 gold medals, Nepal secured in the first position while India and Bangladesh secured second and third place respectively.

Nepal’s Rupa Rana won two gold medals in Kata and Kumite category of the championship. She had competed in the 50 kg weight category.

Other gold medal winners are Santu Tharu, Tshering Gurung, Dil Bahadur Budathoki, Sanjaya Chaudhary, Shivani Basney, Dibin Gurung, Roshan Rana and Sunil Rawal.

Likewise, Priyanka Thapa, Iswa Saru, Shahil Gurung, Jwapan Pun, Milan Shris, Saroj Chettri, Amisha Pokharel, Aditya Chettri, Bibek Sen Thakuri, Gaurav Poudel also won gold, according to accompany Nepali official Giri Pun.
A total of 221 athletes from host India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka had taken part in the event.

The event was organised by All India Siteriyo Karate do Academy with the support Karate Association of India.
