KATHMANDU: The government is planning to build an international convention center in Chobhar in Kathmandu.
It has, however, urged bankers to invest in the project since it does not have any funds for the center.
Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, is, however, hopeful that the convention center could attract tourists coming to Nepal for conference and convention purposes.
According to him, the project could cost around Rs 10 billion while urging bankers to invest in it. He also assured that the government would facilitate the formalities.
Adhikari, during a meeting with the bankers in Kathmandu today, also urged them to make investments in physical infrastructures in touristic areas such as Khaptad and Rara.
However, the bankers clarified that they were not in a position to make investments in the convention center but assured that they could provide loans to the interested investors.
