PARASI: This year’s ‘Empowerment Honor’ is to be conferred on Rastriya Samachar Samiti’s district-based stringer Mohan Poudel along with three other journalists from west Nawalparasi and Rupandehi as well as a media house.
Sashaktikaran Nepal, an organization working for people’s empowerment in Nawalparasi, honoured RSS stringer Poudel, Rupandehi-based journalists Rima BC and Jhabindra Devkota and Radio Parasi on the occasion of Sexual and Gender Minorities day on Sunday.
Felicitating the journalists and media house, Ramgram Municipality mayor Narendra Gupta said the role of media would be spectacular in amplifying the voice of sexual and gender minorities. Speaking on the occasion, Sashaktikaran Nepal Chair Anik Rana said, “We are feeling comfortable to reach to society with media and journalists’ contribution to disseminate our voice among community people”.
ana further said negative understanding about us have changed to the positive tone owing to appreciative role of media. The sexual and gender minorities are facing troubles in obtaining citizenship and employment as per their identity, said right activist Pushpa Lama, calling for undertaking census of the sexual and gender minorities.
