Preparations for 13th SAG near completion



KATHMANDU: Preparations for the 13th South Asian Games scheduled for December 1 have almost completed, said the SAG technical committee.

Works like the determination of the playgrounds and games timetable, mobilization of technical human resources, preparations for technical sheets and arrangements for air tickets for high-level technical delegates like international referees, judges and jury in coordination with the travel desk have been completed, said the committee coordinator Ganga Bahadur Magar.

All responsibility to operate each sport according to the tie-sheet has been assigned to the concerned national association, he said.

Likewise, a technical information center would be set up in each playground for each game. A jury committee would be formed as per games’ rules in order to hear appeals and resolve disputes during games.

Athletes will compete in the total 26 games for the total 1,135 medals (324 gold, 324 silver and 487 bronze) in the 10 days Games which will be inaugurated on December 1).

The games that would be held in the SAG include archery, judo, cricket, football, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, fencing, handball, squash, golf, wushu, taekwondo, tennis, shooting, Kho Kho, swimming, table tennis, athletes, volleyball, kabaddi, karate, weightlifting, wrestling and triathlon. Nepal will participate in all games.

Of the sports held in the Games, eight (archery, badminton, women cricket, women football, handball, triathlon, volleyball and weightlifting) will be organized in Pokhara, one (wrestling) in Janakpur and other 21 in Kathmandu.
