Hong Kong formally withdraws extradition bill

HONG KONG: Authorities in Hong Kong withdrew the widely-criticized extradition bill which sparked months of protests.

Secretary for Security John Lee on Wednesday said, “I formally announce the withdrawal of the bill.”

The scrapping of the bill, however, was overshadowed by a drama about the release from prison in Hong Kong of the murder suspect. (Agencies)
