Dhaulagiri trekking route develops into an adventure destination

BENI: Trekking route leading to Mt Dhaulagiri base camp at Mudi, in Myagdi district, is developing into an adventure trekking route.

Mountaineers going to climb the 8,167-meter Mt Dhaulagiri, and trekkers and tourists going along the round-Dhaulagiri route have been attracted to this trekking route that passes through high hills and mountain bases.

Very few visitors used to come to this route for trekking until a few years back, said Hari Prasad Tiloja, a tourism entrepreneur.

However, according to him, the domestic tourist arrival is also increasing of late.

According to him, it has now become convenient for trekkers after the construction of infrastructures and the improvement of the trekking route.

Keshari Sharma of Khamla, Dhaulagiri rural municipality-4, emphasized the need for publicity of this trekking route leading to the base camp of Mt Dhaulagiri — the world’s seventh-tallest mountain.

According to her, the Naura Cliff, and Glacier zones from Italy Camp to Swiss Camp and from the Japanese Camp to Base Camp along the route are some of the amazing and adventurous sub-routes for trekking.
