Bangladesh enters SAFF U-18 Championship semifinals

KATHMANDU: Bangladesh has entered the semifinals of the third SAFF U-18 Football Championship after playing a goalless draw against India.

At the match played at the Halchowk-based ground of Armed Police Force, both the teams squandered chances to score ending the match in a stalemate.

Bangladesh that has been pooled in Group ‘B’ earned the semifinals berth by garnering four points from two matches. Bangladesh had thrashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in its first match.

India, on the other hand, still has chances to qualify for the semifinals. India has got one point with a draw against Bangladesh and will face Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Bhutan and the Maldives that have been pooled on Group ‘A’ will compete on Tuesday. The match is significant for Nepal as Nepal will qualify for the semifinals only if Bhutan thrashes the Maldives with a goal difference of more than four goals.
