Don’t imitate royals, or else people will drive you away: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that people will drive away communist leaders if they imitated the habits of the former monarchs and royals.

Hinting at the ‘changed attitude’ of some Communist leaders of Nepal, Dahal said people will shoo away the leaders if they continue to ‘show off’ as royals. He said the same people who drove away monarchy from the country will do the same to the current leaders.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal also raised concern over what he said ‘growing indiscipline’ within the communist party. “I urged one and all to maintain calm and make statements with cautiousness,” he said. Dahal was trying to indicate the ‘verbal war’ between Prime Minister K P Oli and senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Thursday.

Stating that there used to be discipline in the past, he expressed worry about the growing instances of indiscipline among the communist leaders in recent times. “This needs to be corrected,” he warned, adding, “Or else, this will lead to unfortunate circumstances.”
