Govt successful in maintaining peace and security, claims Home Minister Thapa

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has claimed that the government was successful in maintaining peace, security and good governance.

He further claimed that the government was successful to put the clamps on the Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav-led outfit, which according to the government, is a major security threat.

Speaking at a program at Ministry for Home Affairs on Tuesday to announce the accomplishment of his ministry in the past one year, Minister Thapa argued that police failed to book those involved in the Nirmala rape and murder case ‘as the issue was highly politicized.’

Claiming that 95 percent progress has been achieved in the case, Home Minister Thapa said that case has been a victim of politicization. He, however, added that the government was working to resolve the case that shocked the country.

On a separate note, he said that the government will take strict action on contractors involved in misappropriation, adding that names of some 1,800 contractors have been forwarded to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for an action.
