Lightning claims two in Saptari

SAPTARI: Two people died after being struck by lightning accompanied by thunderstorms and downpour in the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Harihar Chaudhary, 55, of Surunga Municipality-3 and Shivasati Devi Pandit, 45, of Kankalini Municipality-11 of the district, said DSP Bhabesh Rimal of District Police Office, Saptari.

The lightning struck Chaudhary while he was working in the field while Pandit was coming back home when he was struck by the lightning, according to Rimal.

Critically injured Chaudhari breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Saptarishi Hospital, Lahan.
