Virat Kohli fined for excessive appealing

NEW DELHI: Captain of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for what has been said ‘breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct’ while playing against Afghanistan at Southampton on Saturday.

Kohli is said to have found of breaching Article 2.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This relates to what has been said as “Excessive appealing during an International Match”.

Kohli is said to have approached aggressively before umpire Aleem Dar in the 29th over of Afghanistan’s chase of 225.

Kohli has admitted to the offense. He has so far two demerit points. If a player reaches four or more than four demerit points within a period of 24 months, he will be is banned from playing one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is. (Agencies)
