Pakistan Army conducts missile test

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday conducted a training launch of a Shaheen II, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile, media reports have said.

The Pakistani army said the missile is capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear weapons at a range of up to 1,500 miles.

A statement issued by the Pakistani army termed Shaheen II as a ‘highly capable’ missile that meets Pakistan’s strategic needs towards the maintenance of deterrence stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmud Qureshi on Wednesday spoke briefly with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj at the sidelines the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting of its member states in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz capital.

He said they did not speak bitterly, and that Pakistan wants to live like good neighbors by settling their outstanding issues through talks. (Agencies)
