NCP Secretariat entrusted to clarify MCC issue

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to entrust the Secretariat to clarify issues surrounding the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The meeting held at the party’s central office on Sunday also decided to ask the Prime Minister K P Oli-led government to hold talks with the government of the United States of America on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant agreement signed with Nepal in 2017.

According to party leaders, the Standing Committee meeting urged the government to accept the grant only if the US proved that it was not a part of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Likewise, the meeting also unanimously endorsed the political report presented by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and K P Oli with some amendments.

Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to forward the Party Charter Amendment proposal presented by the party’s General Secretary Bishnu Paudel to the central committee for further discussion. and call its central committee meeting on January 8 next year.
