Upper Bhotekoshi begins commercial production

CHAUTARA: The Sindhupalchowk-based 45-megawatt Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project has started its commercial production.

The project has started the commercial power generation following a two-week-long test transmission, according to project chief executive officer Bikram Sthapit.

The power generated from the Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project has been connected to the national grid through the Lamosanghu-based substation.

The reconstruction of the project, which remained closed due to the 2015 April earthquake and subsequent floods and landslides, was completed recently.

The current production of the project on average is 22-25 megawatt each day.

A Chinese Company Sinohydro Bureau 11 was awarded the project contract in 2074 BS at the cost of Rs seven billion.
