Tension grips National Medical College as agitating students manhandled

KATHMANDU: The Birgunj-based National Medical College has turned tense on Friday evening after students protesting against the college for overcharging were manhandled.

Tension ran high after the agitating students were manhandled by senior students.

A student claimed that the college administration used seniors to manhandle them as they demanded the college to return the overcharge fees.

The agitating students have demanded security for their lives before the District Administration Office, Parsa.

An investigation carried out by the National Vigilance Center showed that the college overcharged over Rs 325.5 million from the students.

The government on November 15 had given a 15-day deadline to medical colleges to return the overcharged fees. Protests flared at the college with the deadline approaching.
