Home Minister discusses with security chiefs over visit by Chinese Prez

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has started discussions with the chiefs of security agencies over a probable Nepal visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping on the third week of October.

Minister Thapa called a meeting with the heads of the security bodies on Sunday following a ‘secret’ meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi.

High-ranking officials from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department are present at the meeting. The meeting is also being attended by Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai.

According to sources at Home Ministry, the meeting will discuss preliminary preparation and security arrangements for the visit.

“The meeting attended by the all the four heads of the security bodies will discuss security strategy for the visit,” said the source, “Next meeting will finalize the security strategy.”
