President Bhandari to attend enthronement of Japanese Emperor

KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is confirmed to attend the enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito.

According to sources at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, President Bhandari will leave on an eight-day visit to Japan soon after the Dashain festival.

President Bhandari will leave for Japan through Myanmar on October 16 and return home on October 23, the source told Khabarhub. The enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito has been scheduled for October 22.

In May 2019, the new Emperor Naruhito made his first public address since taking the throne, following the abdication of his father, Emperor Akihito.

Emperor Naruhito acceded to the Chrysanthemum Throne upon the abdication of his father on May 1, 2019.
