‘USA violated our sovereignty’: Kim Jong Un

SAMOA: North Korea has threatened to pull out of the demilitarization deal if the United States does not return a seized cargo ship the ‘Wise Honest’ back to Pyongyang. North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un administration has expressed the anguish over the issue as a violation of the sovereignty of North Korea and warned Washington that the seizure of cargo ship could affect “future developments” between the countries.

North Korea’s ambassador on May 21, 2019, to the United Nations, warned the United States that the act of seizing the North Korean cargo ship would sabotage the future disarmament negotiations between the two countries.

The ship in question was seized by American administration after it was first detained by Indonesia in April 2018. The UN is taking note of the recent action of the United States as a part of implementing the sanctions against North Korea.

UNSC (UN Security Council) is the only authorized body within the UN to interpret the nature and scope of sanctions imposed by the US against North Korea. (Agencies)
