Nepal Police roll up the sleeves

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police arrested 2,263 absconding convicts, seized 435 arms and filed cases against 38,151 persons involved in criminal activities in 2075 BS, Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Uttam Raj Subedi has said.

Sunedi said they arrested six foreign nationals and a Nepali citizen on the charge of pedophilia; 1,515 on the charge of their involvement in violent activities; and filed lawsuits against 1,313.

Likewise, Subedi informed that Nepal Police provided capacity enhancement training to 18,294 internal human resources while 4,774 were rewarded in one year. Similarly, a total of 1,980 faced departmental action, he informed at a press conference organized by the Nepal Police Headquarters in Kathmandu on Monday.

According to him, Nepal Police signed agreements with 751 local levels throughout the country under the Community-Police Partnership Program aimed at controlling criminal activities in the country.

Likewise, Nepal Police collected Rs 1.93 billion revenue from different places. He said a target has been set to increase the number of police to 10 per cent in crime investigation from the existing five percent.

He further informed that the organization witnessed the clearance of arrears by 85 percent in this period adding that a total of 28 police units have been rebuilt.

On the occasion, he also informed that the Nepal Police has adopted ‘one police- office: one vehicle’ policy.

Likewise, the police have also implemented a three-month action plan aimed at improving the traffic situation inside the Kathmandu Valley.
