Koirala reiterates his stance on religious freedom

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala has reiterated on exerting pressure on the government to hold a referendum on reinstating Nepal as a Hindu state.

Speaking at a program in Chitwan today, Koirala said people’s opinion can be collected officially on the issue of religious freedom.

He, however, said since republic and federalism are the outcomes of people’s movement, he would not mind keeping it intact.

On religious freedom, Koirala said it is his party’s destination.

On another note, he labeled the government’s decision to ban the Netra Bikram Chand-led political party as a wrong decision. He emphasized the need of resolving the issue through talks.

He also lambasted the government of failing to work in favor of the people.
