Foreigners coming to Nepal on student visa soar

KATHMANDU:  The number of foreigners coming to Nepal on student visa has increased significantly. The number of foreigners who came to Nepal on student visa went up by 55 percent in 2018, according to a report in Naya Patrika.

A total of 2,016 tourists ( except Indian nationals) had come to Nepal on student visa in 2018, while the number of foreigners coming to Nepal through the same visa process was 1,200 in 2017.

According to Ishwor Raj Paudel, director general  at the  Department of Immigration,  foreigners coming to Nepal on student visa might be involved in other activities, too. The concerned authority should monitor them, Pudel added.

Most of those coming to Nepal on student visa are from European and American countries.
