DIG Upadhyaya recalled to Police Headquarters

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan International Airport Police Chief DIG Surya Upadhyaya has been recalled to Nepal Police Headquarters, within four months he was transferred to the airport.

DIG Upadhyaya had joined his duty at the airport on July 25.

He was unsatisfied following the transfer of DIG Bishworaj Pokharel to Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office (MPCO).

According to sources, disputes had surfaced following the transfer as a senior officer was placed under the command of a junior officer.

DIG Upadhyaya is a senior in rank when compared to DIG Pokharel. Upadhyaya is currently on a six-day leave as he was unsatisfied with the decision.

On Wednesday, Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Pokharel was transferred to MPCO, Ranipokhari, while DIG Shailesh Thapa Chhetri at MPCO was transferred to Nepal Police Headquarters.
