NEPSE weekly review: Domestic share market declines

KATHMANDU: The domestic share market which had entertained a rise last week was hit by a continuous fall this week.

Throughout the week, 6 million 521 thousand 34 shares of a total of 172 companies were traded and the total transactions were 1 billion 719 million 908 thousand 792.

According to Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE), its index witnessed a 4.78-point fall to sit at 1,167 points in the opening day of the week which began on Sunday.

The opening day recorded the total transactions of Rs 686 million 76 thousand 111 with the trading of 2 million 72 thousand 236 units of share of a total of 172 companies.

The domestic share market had been on the bullish-run since December 2, dropped by 60 points during the weeklong transactions.

Monday or the second day of the week failed to make any comeback and continued to fall to sit at 1,154.11 points with total transactions of Rs 407 million 900 thousand 555. A total of 1 million 371 thousand 134 units of share of 166 companies were traded on that day.

On Tuesday, the NEPSE index increased slightly. On that day NPSE climbed by 1.26 points to rest at 1155.37.  Eight hundred forty thousand 677 units of shares worth Rs 279 million 244 thousand 135 of total 167 companies were traded on Tuesday.

NEPSE index decreased by 3.30 points to 1152.07 on Wednesday. The transaction amount also decreased correspondingly.

Nine hundred forty-seven thousand 853 units of shares of a total of 165 companies were traded for Rs 294 million 709 thousand 858.

On Thursday, the last day of weekly share trading, the NEPSE index again decreased.

On Thursday, NEPSE dropped by 2.42 points and reached 1149.64 points. One million 289 thousand 134 units of shares of a total of 141 companies were transacted on Thursday.

Shares of various five companies were listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange throughout the week.

According to the Stock Exchange, 188 thousand 980 units of rights shares of Best Finance Company were listed.

Similarly, one million 10 thousand 880 units rights shares of Bomi Microfinance Institute, 4 million 837 thousand 860 units of bonus shares, 8 million 874 thousand 96 units of rights shares of Surya Life Insurance and 8 million 834 thousand 228 units of bonus shares were listed.
