Litterateur duo bag ‘Yuba Barsha Moti Prize’

KATHMANDU: Litterateur Shankar Chapagain (Dhankute Kanchha, Jhapa) and Phulman Bal (Kavrepalannchowk) have won the ‘Yuba Barsha Moti Prize’ this year.

The prize was established by the Rastriya Yuba Kosh in 2042 BS in commemoration of the late youth poet Motiram Bhatta and it carries a purse of Rs 50,000 and a gold medal.

A meeting of prize selection committee chaired by senior lyrist Kali Prasad Rijal decided to present the award to Chapagain and Bal.

It will be conferred on them on coming August 30 on the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of poet and national luminary Motiram Bhatta, according to Bhim Bahadur Adhikari, treasurer of the Rastriya Yuba Kosh.
