Indian school expels two Nepali girls

DHAR: A private school in Madhya Pradesh has expelled two girls for being Nepalis. Dhar district education officer has initiated an inquiry after the two students filed a complaint at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

According to Dhar district education officer Mangesh Vyas, an inquiry has been initiated against Eminent Public School on the Mandoo Road following a complaint by the two girls, India Today reported.

“The two girls in their complaint alleged that they were hounded in their school and were called Nepalis. They reported this to their father when he went to the school and there was some argument. The school in response issued transfer certificates in the name of the two girls,” Vyas said.

The father of the two girls, Narbahadur, alleged that his daughters were turned away from the school just because of their place of origin.

“My daughters complained to me that they were hounded and teased in school after which I went to the school authorities. My third daughter is also in the same school but the management instead of listening to my complaint issued transfer certificates for two of my daughters,” Narbahadur said.

The school principal Dr P Bhuvendram, however, denied that the two girls were asked to leave because they were from Nepal.
