NHRC to organize int’l conference on migrant workers

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is set to organize an International Conference on the Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers’ in Kathmandu from November 12 to 14.

The NHRC said that the conference would help to address the issues of migrant workers including their free, fair and responsible recruitment process, rights and protection, among others.

Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu today, NHRC Chairman, Anup Raj Sharma stated that the conference was envisaged to ensure Nepali migrant workers’ welfare as well as those from South Asia working in the Gulf countries

Around 24 chairmen and members from Human Rights Commissions of 30 countries, experts, government representatives, civic society members, among others would attend the conference.
