Biplav outfit’s Valley Bureau In-charge Lama arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Kathmandu Valley Bureau In-charge of the outlawed Biplav outfit Maila Lama from Kadaghari on Sunday.

Police said that acting on a tip-off they arrested Lama at around 12:30 am today. Another leader of the outfit Resham Tamang was also arrested along with Lama.

Police have been claiming that explosions were carried out in different parts of the Valley on Lama’s direction. Some six people have lost their lives in explosions carried out in the Valley by the outfit on different occasions.

Lama is considered as an influential leader of the outfit. Hailing from Sitapaila of Kathmandu, Lama was Chairman of the then Maoist cultural troupe.

He had contested in the 2064 BS Constituent Assembly Election from Kathmandu. Lama had entered Biplav outfit from the Mohan Baidhya-led party, a splinter of the Maoist party.
