Minister Baskota says Media Council Bill not designed to control media

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota has said that the Media Council Bill was designed to control the misuse of social sites.

He argued that it was not designed to control press freedom and freedom of speech.

Speaking in the meeting of the Development and Technology Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) today, Minister Banskota claimed that the media council bill was drafted aimed at making the society more decent and free.
