CHITWAN: A total of 41 Chepang children being taken to Gorkha from Rapti Municipality of the east Chitwan were rescued by the local administration on Thursday. The children from ward no 13 of the Rapti Municipality were held along with 13 guardians from Godrang of Bharatpur while they were being taken to Chhoprak of Siranchowk Rural Municipality in Gorkha. Chief District Officer Jitendra Basnet informed that they were held on a tip-off.
The police post at Godrang was mobilized for it. Even a school principal from Chhoprak was held together. The school principal admitted that he was taking the children to his village for providing residential study because his school had declining number of students. However, CDO Basnet informed that the children could not be trafficked without the decision of child welfare committee.
So, the children would be handed over to their parents and the principle initiated action with further investigation. Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Malla informed that further reason behind children’s transportation would be sought with investigation.
