A single assailant behind Miklajung massacre: Police

KATHMANDU: A single assailant was involved in the gruesome massacre that claimed the lives of nine people in Miklajung Municipality-3 in Panchthar district, a preliminary investigation of the police led by DSP Narendra Kunwar said.

According to the statement provided by lone survivor Sita Khajum, 12, who managed to save her life by feeling the heinous scene, a single masked man barged into the house attacked with sharp weapons indiscriminately.

“A masked man barged into the house and started attacking the family members with a sharp weapon indiscriminately. I, somehow, managed to escape,” Police quoted Sita, a lone survivor of the gruesome murder, as saying during the statement. She has got her one hand broken and is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital.

Meanwhile, youngest son-in-law Man Bahadur Makhim was found hanging in his house. According to locals, Makhim was living alone after his relationship sourced with his wife. His wife was staying in the maternal’s house. The death of Makhim made the incident further mysterious.

Police are inquiring the locals to gather evidences in the course of investigation.

Police team with a sniffer dog

A police team led by SSP Sharad Khatri from Federal Police Office, Dharan has reached the incident site with a well-trained sniffer dog.

Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has also left for the incident site, said Biswaraj Pokharel of Nepal Police.
