State should invest more on sports: Minister Magar



LALITPUR: Minister for Water Supply, Bina Magar has stressed the need to increase state investment in the sports sector.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘First Prakash Dahal Memorial Open National Taekwondo Competition’ in Lalitpur today, Minister Magar, the spouse of late Prakash Dahal, remarked that sports plays a significant role in enhancing the glory of the nation.

Highlighting the need to organize such events, she further said, “Such competitions not only offer the youths an opportunity to come together and enhance the spirit of friendship but also increase the sense of competition preparing them for the best output in the forthcoming events.”

Bharat Maharjan, Senior Vice President of Nepal Taekwondo Federation and Chairperson of Sumeru Group, said that SAG success was the outcome of such competitions that were held at the background before the mega event.

In the event to conclude on Saturday, players from 15 districts outside the Kathmandu Valley are also competing under various categories.

Kaviraj Mali, the Coordinator of the event, informed that Rs 50 thousand, 30 thousand and 20 thousand would be provided to the first, second and third position holders respectively.

Nagdaha Taekwondo Dojang organized the competition at Dhapakhel of Lalitpur.
