MUMBAI: A total of 338 players went under the hammer in the IPL 2020 auctions, vying for the remaining 73 spots across eight franchises. 62 of these slots were filled with a total of 29 overseas players attracting successful bids.
A total of Rs 140 crore were spent on the auction day with Kings XI Punjab bidding for the most money – Rs 16.5 crore. Pat Cummins at Rs 15.5 crore became the most expensive overseas pick in IPL history. Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris and Sheldon Cottrell followed at Rs 10.75 crore, Rs 10 crore and Rs 8.5 crore respectively.
Piyush Chawla ended as the most expensive Indian player with a whopping Rs 6.75 crore bid by CSK.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
