NEW DELHI: Police stations in the Indian capital of Delhi have been put on high alert after intelligence inputs that terrorists mainly Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist outfit, may target over 400 places during Diwali festival.
The intelligence information prompted the New Delhi police to keep the main gates of police stations closed, Indian media reports have said.
Likewise, security personnel at inner peripheries have also been told to stay alert following terrorist threats.
Security authorities said security was tightened due to the festival season.
The police headquarters has instructed authorities to improve security in their areas during the festive season.
Special directives have been asked to take special alert, and have been asked to keep a close watch on every visitor.
Several police stations have also pasted warnings at their main gates.
New Delhi has more than 200 police stations out of which New Delhi, South Delhi, Central Delhi, and North Delhi police stations are said to be the most sensitive ones. (Agencies)
