President Bhandari attends dinner reception



MYANMAR: President Bidya Devi Bhandari who is on a state visit to Myanmar has attended welcome dinner hosted by the Nepali Embassy in honor of the president.

Speaking at the program, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali urged all to make the visit year 2020 a success.

He added bilateral ties between Nepal and Myanmar are also strengthened at people to people level. Minister Gyawali also called for the international community to invest in Nepal as it was a safe zone for investment.

Similarly, Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Bhim Krishna Udas shared that the visit from the Head of the State from Nepal to Myanmar after 39 years will further strengthen bilateral relations. He also believed that the preaching of the lord Buddha will also bring the two countries closer.

The ambassador also remembered that the Gurkha Army had fought for the freedom and independence of Myanmar and Myanmar also had supported Nepal in its democratic movements.

Referring to the Myanmar’s President Win Myint’s state visit to Nepal last year in a hiatus of 58 years following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Myanmar, and Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi’s Nepal visit in a break of 43 years, Ambassador Udas said such visits had increased Myanmar’s cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade and investment areas in Nepal.

On occasion, the Nepali community in Myanmar organized a cultural program. Present on the occasion were President Bhandari, Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, Secretary at the Office of the President Dr Hari Poudel, Chief Personal Secretary to the President, Dr Bhesh Raj Adhikari, high officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the President and office bearers of various diplomatic missions, among others.
