Nurses end protest after 10-point deal



KATHMANDU: Nurses Dikki Sherpa and Jita Baral, who had been on a hunger strike, putting forth various demands, ended their 10-day protest following an agreement with the Shahid Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Center.

The 10-point agreement was struck on Sunday evening between executive director of the Centre Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, and the protesting nurses at the district administration office in the presence of a team led by assistant chief district officer Dilip Lamichhane that includes chairperson of the Nepal Nursing Association Tara Pokharel and chairperson of the Nepal Sherpa Women Association Dinmi Sherpa.

The nurses had launched agitation demanding tests like X-ray and others be conducted at the center itself, resolution of the complaints of patients, reconciliation of the nurse to patient ratio, opening of Public Service Commission vacancies for all human resources at the center, and priority to the nurses and staffers working since its establishment among others.
