ILAM: Former Prime Minister Jhal Nath Khanal has said journalism played an important role in tourism promotion.

Stating journalism played a key role in informing the state on development affairs, he stressed that journalism should be independent and fair.

He also reminded that journalism played a significant role in nation building and it was the need of the hour to strengthen democracy, prevent the undermining of nationality, and preserve and promote good governance, sustainable development and cultural heritage.

Leader Khanal added that the country could not move forward without good governance and activities like shutdown, general strikes and violence should be stopped for good now.

Reiterating that the country has entered a new era, he suggested conducting our foreign policy in a balanced way with neighbors and other countries.
