NOC tanker carrying 20,000 liters petrol hijacked from Lahan

KATHMANDU: A petrol tanker transporting 20,000 liters of petrol has been hijacked from Lahan of Siraha district today.

The tanker – Na 4 Kha 4163 – belonging to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) was en route to Biratnagar from Amlekhgunj to deliver the 20,000 liters of petrol, NOC Spokesperson Birendra Goit said.

According to him, eight people were involved in hijacking the truck registered in the name of Rajesh Gupta.

The whereabouts of the tanker, which was parked in front of Lahan-based postal office at around 12 midnight on Sunday, is unknown, he said.

The hijackers took the driver and assistant driver under control by blindfolding them, Goit said.

A four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
